Schnuck announces conversion plans for remaining Shop ‘n Save stores

Schnuck Markets Inc. today announced additional opening dates and regular operating hours for the remaining 10 acquired Shop ‘n Save supermarket locations and one standalone pharmacy.

The plans include the Shop ‘n Save store in Edwardsville, which has long operated as a neighbor to the Schnuck’s store on Troy Road. That means two Schnuck’s stores will be operating virtually side by side, with their respective shopping complexes separated only by Governors’ Parkway, which runs between them.

“At this time, we plan to operate both stores,” the company said via an email Friday to the Illinois Business Journal.

Similar to the first round of store openings, each of the former Shop ‘n Save stores will be closed for 63 hours before reopening as Schnucks stores. During the transition period, crews will switch out point-of-sale systems, rebrand signage, and restock merchandise, with more significant remodels scheduled in the near future.

“We’ve seen with our first round of openings that customers are eager to return to their neighborhood stores as quickly as possible, and we’re just as eager to welcome them to Schnucks,” said Dave Peacock, Schnucks president and COO. “We want to thank the local leaders in each of the municipalities for working with us to make these quick turnarounds possible.”

To celebrate all 20 openings, Schnucks will hold a ceremonial ribbon cutting at the newly acquired Fenton location (45 Gravois Bluffs Plaza Drive) at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22. The event will be open to the public. Store opening dates and times (Regular store hours in parentheses)
