New commander named for USTRANSCOM

    U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Jason L. France has been selected by Gen. Stephen Lyons, commander, U.S. Transportation Command, to succeed U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Matthew M. Caruso as the command senior enlisted leader.
    “Chief Master Sgt. France is the senior enlisted leader our command needs to build on the stellar and energetic leadership of Matt Caruso,” said Lyons. “We’re looking forward to his arrival here at TRANSCOM, and I personally look forward to his leadership, counsel and advocacy on behalf of the tens of thousands of mobility personnel across the joint force.”
    France is currently assigned as the command chief master sergeant for Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He will be the sixth senior enlisted leader for USTRANSCOM, serving as the principal advisor to the combatant commander for all matters concerning joint force integration, career development, utilization and sustainment of the enlisted corps.
    France entered the Air Force in February 1990 as a military working dog handler with the 47th Security Police Squadron, Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas.
    He has held leadership positions at the squadron, group, wing, major command and air staff levels during his career, and has deployed numerous times in support of Operations Sea Signal, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
    Caruso will retire following the change of responsibility ceremony to be held here later this year.
