Freight effort aims to promote area’s trucking industry

Bi-State Development and the St. Louis Regional Freightway are launching “I Choose STL,” a new platform that will promote local jobs, workforce recruitment and training programs throughout the region and the Midwest.

lamie maryThe pilot launch of IChooseSTL.com will focus on promoting job and training opportunities for the St. Louis region’s trucking industry.

Launching of the site is anticipated this fall.

Marie C. Lamie, executive director of the Freightway, said the website will be a resource for sharing industry successes and positive quality of life articles that raise the region’s profile as one of the best places to work and live.

It will also be promoted through digital and industry campaigns to markets throughout the Midwest.

“The St. Louis region’s world-class freight network is one of the region’s biggest advantages and will be a key factor in supporting the U.S. Department of Transportation’s anticipated 45 percent increase in freight volumes over the next three decades,” Lamie said.

People interested in learning more about the program or who would like to submit a truck driver job posting, training, supportive service or recruitment program should forward their logo and a link of their job board or posting to Evan Glantz at EJGlantz@TheFreightway.com.

Submittals received by Sept. 17 will be reviewed and included with the inaugural launching of “I Choose STL” this fall.
