Ameren Illinois partners with Tendril to strengthen its behavioral energy efficiency programs
Ameren Illinois has selected Tendril to implement its behavioral energy efficiency and consumer engagement offering. Tendril and Ameren Illinois will work in partnership with Leidos, a leading program administrator, to revamp the company’s home energy reports, incorporate category-level segmentation and introduce high-usage alerts to help customers better manage their energy usage and save money.
“Tendril truly acts as a partner dedicated to helping us execute efficiency and engagement programs that deliver consistent results while engaging our customers,” says Deb Perry, energy efficiency manager at Ameren Illinois. “Tendril’s innovative design allows us to maximize cost effectiveness and give customers what they want: energy and cost savings.”
Ameren Illinois customers that participate in the program will receive:
Home Energy reports – Tendril has redesigned the Ameren Illinois home energy reports, which will now include a breakdown of how different aspects of a home uses energy. These reports give customers a detailed view of their individual usage data, comparisons to similar residences, and practical, easy-to-follow tips to save energy. They are delivered via mail and email to meet the communication preferences of the customer.
Access to an energy savings portal – The Tendril engagement portal includes the data provided in home energy reports and uses behavioral engagement tactics, including goal setting, social comparisons and active learning, to facilitate interactive energy education. Active portal customers receive weekly energy challenge emails and recommendations for energy-saving actions.
High usage alerts – Ameren Illinois will now deliver proactive email alerts notifying customers that their energy usage is trending higher than usual, as well as tips to conserve. Traditionally, recipients of Tendril alerts save an additional 5.7% on their energy bill the month it is received. This savings is in addition to what home energy report recipients achieve.
“Ameren Illinois is a pioneer in energy efficiency so it’s an honor to be chosen as their partner to take their programs to the next level,” says Tendril CEO Adrian Tuck. “Our growth in the BEE market continues to accelerate because we have proven results at scale, better end-customer satisfaction and a stronger vision for the future of DSM.”
