Sun Country Airlines to launch Lambert service to Fort Myers, Tampa

Sun Country Airlines will begin serving St. Louis Lambert International Airport this fall when it launches scheduled service from St. Louis to Fort Myers and Tampa Bay, Fla.

suncountryThe Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn.-based airline will begin nonstop service from St. Louis to Fort Myers beginning Oct. 3 with service on Wednesdays and Saturdays (12:55 p.m. departures). Service to Tampa will begin Nov. 1 with service on Thursdays and Sundays (11:45 a.m. departures).

Sun Country is offering introductory fares from as low as $74 one way for purchases made by June 29. Travelers can book tickets at www.suncountry.com. Sun Country has served the St. Louis market over the last several years as a charter flight operator.

“Sun Country has a great track record for service to many of the top vacation destinations over the years and we’re thrilled to be part of their launch for scheduled nonstop service to and from St. Louis,” Lambert Director Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge said. “The addition of Sun Country gives our travelers even more options to two popular Florida destinations.”

Sun Country operates Boeing 737-700 and Boeing 737-800 aircraft and currently offers nearly 60 routes across the U.S. Sun Country also announced new routes from Dallas/Fort Worth, TX and Madison, WI today, further expanding beyond its Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota hub. The locations for ticket and gate operations for Sun Country at Lambert will be announced at later date.

Sun Country will be the 11th major passenger air carrier at Lambert, and the second new airline to begin operations this year. WOW air launched new international service between St. Louis and Reykjavik, Iceland, in May.

Lambert airlines average more than 250 daily departures to 71 destinations. Through May 2018, Lambert has served 6,078,343 total passengers, up 5.2 percent over the first five months of 2017.
