RiverBend Growth Association tabs Alton Physical Therapy as small business of month

The RiverBend Growth Association has named Alton Physical Therapy as its Small Business of the Month.

The independently owned therapy clinic opened in 1982 and is today owned by Steve Schwegel, who purchased the clinic from his mentor, William P. Nash PT, in 2010.

Schwegel joined the practice in 1990. He was born and raised in Alton. After attending parochial schools for elementary education, he graduated from Marquette High School in 1986. He then attended Saint Louis University and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 1990.

Schwegel is a member of the Orthopaedic, Sport and Private Practice Sections of the American Physical Therapy Association, which allows him to stay current on the most recent advances in evidence-based treatment options.

His interest in therapy began with several injuries that he incurred with sports in high school.

The RiverBend Growth Association selects a small business to honor each month. Winners are selected based on a scoring system that awards points for the number of years in business, the number of employees, overcoming adversity and community service.
