Collinsville rec district has new, returning events for summer

Summer is right around the corner and the Collinsville Area Recreation District has plenty of fun ways to make a splash this summer.

CARD’s Giant Yard Sale is scheduled for Sunday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the CARD Activity Center at 10 Gateway Drive, Collinsville. The event is free. Those interested in selling items at the event can reserve a 10 by 10 booth for $10.

The newest event for CARD is the Mother-Son Superhero Ball scheduled for Friday, May 11, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Gateway Center. The event will give mom and son the opportunity to dress up as their favorite superheroes and test their skills with fun games, as well as enjoy dancing and a meal. CARD is looking for activity booth sponsors and table sponsors for this event. Businesses and organizations can contact the CARD Activity Center.

CARD also has nine different weeks of summer camp, a variety of dance classes, karate instruction, Tai Chi and many other activities coming up.

Splash City Waterpark officially opens May 26.
