MERS Goodwill seeks spring cleaning donations

With plans to serve more than 50,000 people and a new goal to collect 1.6 million donations, MERS Goodwill is reminding area residents of its availability for spring cleaning donations.

“Last year, with 1.5 million donations, we were able to serve over 50,000 people in our local communities and approximately 29,000 were placed in jobs,” said David Kutchback, president and CEO of MERS Goodwill. “As we celebrate our centennial this year, we are grateful more than ever for the continued support we receive from the community. We hope that as the weather improves, people will feel like they can get out to their Goodwill site with donations and help us meet our goal.”

For those people with used computers and computer accessories lying around the house, Goodwill accepts working e-readers, tablets and other electronic items.

Those who donate to Goodwill can receive a tax receipt for their donation.

MERS Goodwill stores generate revenue to provide services and opportunities like job training, job placement, financial literacy classes, and other employment programs for those with disabilities or economic disadvantages.
