Local SBDC plans activities for National Small Business Week

illinoismetroeast sbdcThe Illinois Metro East Small Business Center will collaborate with several groups on events during the upcoming National Small Business Week.

Events will be held during the week, April 29 to May 5.

Small Business Day will be marked from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, at the Collinsville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5691. Specific events are still being determined.

Wednesday, May 2, will be devoted to small-business taxation, with tips and strategies provided by the law firm of Mathis, Marifian & Richter at its office, 23 Public Square, Suit 300, Belleville, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Thursday, May 3, will be devoted to starting a small business in Illinois and will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Southwestern Illinois Community College in Belleville, Liberal Arts Complex rooms 2311/2313. Admission is $10.

Sponsoring along with SBDC and those mentioned above, are the Southern Illinois University School of Business, The Southwest Illinois Chapter of SCORE, Scott Credit Union, The Greater Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce, Organized Performance, Woodforest National Bank, and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
