Washington University Physicians in Illinois providing pediatric and neonatology services at Memorial
Pediatricians with Washington University Physicians in Illinois and St. Louis Children’s Hospital this week began providing coverage in Memorial Hospitals’ two Emergency Departments as well as in the newborn nursery.
In addition, Washington University neonatologists are providing care at the Family Care Birthing centers at Memorial Belleville and Memorial East.
The goal is to provide 24/7 pediatric coverage in Memorial’s two Emergency Departments and are moving toward that goal later in April or May.
Dr. Shawn O’Connor, a neonatologist with Washington University Physicians in Illinois, Inc., serves as medical director of Memorial’s neonatology program. He has worked with hospitals in the area, including St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Missouri Baptist Medical Center. Dr. O’Connor received his medical degree from Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine and is board-certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine and in pediatrics.
Dr. Jane Alyce Hunt, a Washington University pediatric hospitalist at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, is the medical director of the pediatric hospitalist service at Memorial. She received her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine and is board-certified in pediatrics.
“We are pleased to have our colleagues from Washington University and St. Louis Children’s Hospital make access to world-class care more convenient for babies and children – and their families – in the Metro East,” said Mark J. Turner, president of Memorial Regional Health Services.
