Sebastian resigns as president and CEO at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s

O’FALLON, Ill. — Peggy A. Sebastian has resigned as president and CEO of HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL to pursue new career opportunities, the hospital confirmed today. Her resignation is effective immediately.

sebastian peggySebastian joined HSHS in 2009 as president and CEO of HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland. She was appointed president and CEO of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in January, 2016. During her tenure with HSHS she oversaw the construction of replacement hospitals and medical office buildings at both St. Joseph’s and St. Elizabeth’s. Prior to joining HSHS, Peggy was President and CEO of Sebastian Group, LLC, a healthcare consulting company specializing in new facility construction and operational planning execution.

Patricia L. Fischer, RN, MBA, FACHE, chief operating officer of HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, will serve as the interim president and CEO for St. Elizabeth’s while a national search is conducted for a permanent president and CEO.

Jim Dover, president and CEO, HSHS Southern Illinois Division, said he will provide on-site support to Fischer and the leadership team at St. Elizabeth’s during the transition.

“We appreciate Peggy’s many contributions to HSHS, in particular her leadership and oversight of our two major construction projects in Highland and O’Fallon. We wish her the very best as she begins another chapter in her career,” said Dover.
