Bost bill would provide cost-of-living adjustment for veterans
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Mike Bost this month introduced the bipartisan Veterans’ Compensation COLA Act of 2018 to provide a cost-of-living adjustment to veterans.
“I’m proud to carry this bill to provide important cost-of-living adjustments to our nation’s veterans and their dependents,” said Bost, who is chairman of the Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs. “It’s vitally important that we ensure the men and women who have served our nation receive the benefits they have earned. We need to get this legislation through Congress and to the President to provide certainty to our nation’s heroes.”
The act would provide a cost-of-living increase for wartime disability compensation; compensation for dependents; clothing allowance; dependency and indemnity compensation to surviving spouses; and, dependency and indemnity compensation to children paid to our wounded warriors and their families for injuries they suffered while serving our nation in uniform.
The increase would begin Dec. 1, 2018.
