Multimillion-dollar logistics project coming to Jerseyville

JERSEYVILLE — A $500 million privately funded development project with the potential for more than 1,000 jobs will be announced at a press conference next month in Jerseyville, according to a media advisory issued today.

The project, to be funded by Atlanta, Ga.-based Stonemont Financial Group in partnership with the Jerseyville Economic Development Council and Kansas City Southern Railroad, will be detailed at a press conference at 1 p.m. on March 2.

An advisory from the Jerseyville Economic Development Council detailing the planned press conference said the development will have a major impact on the entire Midwest economy and the country’s logistics and commerce industries. The release said the project will bring an approximate 1,000 jobs to the area immediately, with another 1,000 or more following in the next several years.

 Partnering to make this development announcement are expected to be:
● Mayor William “Billy” Russell, Jerseyville, Ill.
● Tim Carr, or representative, Kansas City Southern Railroad
● William I. “Zack” Markwell, Stonemont Financial Group
● Illinois State Representative CD Davidsmeyer, R-Jacksonville
● U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorvile
● Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner

No further information is being released ahead of the announcement. All inquiries are being directed to Shari Albrecht, executive director of the Jerseyville Economic Development Council, who has declined to give specifics.

Officials have been mum about the project for well over a year, as rumors have been rife within the community about the project, its location and other details.
