Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, P.C. announced that firm officer Amy L. Blaisdell has received a 2018 Missouri Lawyers Award for her role in a high-profile U.S. Supreme Court ruling that upheld an exemption in federal law for church-affiliated pension plans.
Presented annually by Missouri Lawyers Weekly, the Missouri Lawyers Awards honor attorneys in the state who have made an impact during the previous year. Blaisdell won in the Influential Appellate Advocates category that recognizes lawyers behind the year’s most significant appellate decisions. She will be honored at an awards luncheon Jan. 26 in St. Louis and profiled in a special section of Missouri Lawyers Weekly, which covers the business of law in the state.
Blaisdell’s award involves the case Advocate Health Care Network et al. v. Stapleton et al., in which she represented Greensfelder client Advocate Health Care Network and two other religiously affiliated hospitals. The Supreme Court unanimously sided with the firm’s clients in its June 5, 2017, decision.
A member of Greensfelder’s Employment & Labor Practice Group, Blaisdell represents employers nationwide in the defense of employment and employee benefits litigation. She focuses her practice on highly regulated industries including health care, the securities industry and banking.
