To assist students in financial need, First Bank has awarded scholarships totaling $1,500 to three Southwestern Illinois College students from the Metro East for the 2017-18 school year.
“Through the Southwestern Illinois College Foundation, we are honored to provide scholarships to these three deserving local students,” said Tammy Salger, assistant vice president, senior branch manager for the Red Bud office. “First Bank values the importance of education and the role colleges like Southwestern Illinois College plays in our region. We wish all three students well as they pursue their educational aspirations.”
Each year, First Bank’s Red Bud, Granite City and Swansea branches award scholarships to one student each in Madison County, St. Clair County, and Monroe County. The students must have a financial need and be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) at SWIC. The students also must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA and 2.0 GPA for the semester.
Since 1993, First Bank has provided a total of $15,000 in scholarships to 32 SWIC students.
