Key housing market statistics in the Metro East released

rasigraphicSHILOH – Home sales remained strong in the Metro East throughout October, according to just-released figures from the Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois.

The number of homes sold increased year-to-date in October of this year compared to the same time last year. Home sales in St. Clair, Macoupin, and Madison Counties increased by 2.6 percent, 18 percent, and 0.1 percent, respectively.

“The Metro East market is continuing to be strong with home sales increasing in St. Clair County and Madison County,” said Angie Zahn, president of the Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois.

As for a month-by-month comparison, Randolph County home sales increased 12.5 percent in October from September while home sales in Montgomery County increased 9.5 percent in the same comparison.

Home prices

Five of the Metro-East counties saw a rise in home prices in October. Jersey and Clinton County homes hit double-digit increases in home prices compared to October 2016 with 16.9 percent and 29.7 percent increases, respectively. Monroe, Madison, and Macoupin Counties home prices also rose with 8.2 percent, 4.2 percent, and 6.7 percent increases, respectively.

Days on market

Days on market continue to decrease in many counties within the Metro-East. St. Clair County homes sold 15 percent faster this October than October 2016. Homes in Clinton sold 80 percent faster at just 25 days on market in October while Monroe County homes sold 46 percent faster at just 22 days on market.
