New medical building progressing on Alton Memorial Campus

    Construction of a new Medical Office Building on the Alton Memorial Hospital is progressing, with the building scheduled to open for business in May 2018.
    The new building will connect to the current Medical Office Building B. The $8 million project will add 41,000 square feet of new office space (on two floors) to the campus. Upon completion, the new space is expected to accommodate offices for pediatrics, primary care, OB/GYN, internal medicine, psychiatry and an outpatient lab.
    “A primary goal for our organization is to improve access to care for our patients,” said AMH President Dave Braasch. “As we continue to recruit new physicians and mid-level providers such as nurse practitioners to the community, we need to ensure there is suitable, well designed space in which the team can deliver top-notch care to our patients using the new care delivery model.”
    Braasch went on to say that the project reflects Alton Memorial Hospital’s commitment to the region.
     “We believe it will be a positive development for our patients, medical staff, employees and the communities we serve,” he said.
    The architect for the project is Archimages, a leader and innovator in sustainable health care design. The project’s general contractor is The Korte Company.
    
SIHF Healthcare ready to move in
    
    The entire second floor of the building will be taken up by SIHF Healthcare staff. New SIHG physicians include Dr. Sandy Chiang in family medicine and Dr. Jagannath Patil, a psychiatrist.
    Chiang earned her medical degree at American University of the Caribbean and completed her residency in Family Medicine this year at Southern Illinois University in Springfield. Chiang’s office number is (618) 463-5905.
    Patil has been a staff psychiatrist with the Alton Mental Health Center since 1996. His office number is (618) 465-8829.
