        • Memorial Medical Group Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
        • Memorial Hospital Outpatient Lab Draw
        • Memorial Hospital Diagnostic Imaging
        • The Harold and Dixie LePere Breast Health Center
        • Memorial Rehab Services

“This new medical office building offers opportunity to expand services to meet the demand for quality healthcare in this region,” said Mark J. Turner, president of Memorial Regional Health Services Inc.  “Additionally, this location provides for specialists and services available through our affiliation with BJC HealthCare to be more accessible to residents throughout Southwest Illinois.
“We also have been very successful in our physician development activities and look forward to breaking ground on our second Medical Office Building on the Shiloh campus to accommodate the demand for physician offices adjacent to Memorial Hospital East.”
In August, Memorial Regional Health Services, Metro-East Services, Memorial Group and BJC HealthCare filed a Certificate of Need (CON) application with the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board for Phase II of a medical office building project on the 94-acre campus of Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh.
Phase II includes a three-story 66,400-square-foot medical office building which will provide space for physician specialists and services as well as expansion of Memorial Medical Group’s primary and specialty care providers.  Estimated cost of the project is $32.4 million.
“We are very excited to expand services on the Memorial Hospital East campus.  We look forward to providing more convenient access to providers and services for residents of Southwestern Illinois,” said Turner.
The CON application is expected to be reviewed by the IHFSRB at one of its meetings later this year.  If approved, construction would begin in early 2018 with completion slated for mid-2019.
In 2017 Memorial Hospital also received awards for providing outstanding health-care services. In August, Memorial Hospital Belleville was recognized as one of the best hospitals for 2017-18 in treating heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by U.S. News & World Report.
“This is quite an honor to be recognized as a high performing hospital by U.S. News & World Report in these specialty areas,” Turner said. “This award is a testament to the quality care our physicians and staff provide our patients.”
For 2017-18, approximately 1,600 of the 5,000 hospitals nationwide received a high performing rating in one or more specialties, procedures or conditions. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals that were high-performing across multiple areas of care.
The U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings help guide patients to hospitals that deliver outstanding care across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. The Best Hospitals methodologies include objective measures such as patient survival, the number of times a given procedure is performed, infection rates, adequacy of nurse staffing and more.
Last April Memorial Hospital East received Excellence in Healthcare Awards from national health-care research leader Professional Research Consultants Inc.
Memorial East was recognized for overall quality of care as follows:

        • Five Star 4th Floor Medical/Surgical
