The 23rd Annual Salute to Scott Air Force Base will move to a new location this year.
The event supported by the O’Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce, city of O’Fallon and village of Shiloh will be on Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Gateway Classic Cars in O’Fallon.
For the past 22 years, the annual Salute to Scott has been staged as a picnic in the park in June. This year’s event will serve as a way recognize Veteran’s Day.
The event is organized by O’Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee to show appreciation for base personnel and to increase the awareness of the important relationships that exist between Scott Air Force Base, its families, and surrounding communities. Those who bring a military or government civilian identification card get in free, which gives them access to food, children’sevents and prizes.
Free hot dogs, chips and soda will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A tasting event featuring the fare of local restaurants will also be featured.
The O’Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a business expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The expo features displays from local businesses.
While the adults are enjoying the classic cars on display, children can have fun at a Kid Zone. Fredbird will visit from noon to 1 p.m.
People can register for attendance prizes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
