SWANSEA — The Southwestern Illinois Laborers’ District Council, a regional division of the Laborers’ International Union of North America, has endorsed Democrat Rachelle Aud Crowe in the election for the 56th Illinois Senate District, citing her strong support for working families.
“I’m honored to be endorsed by the District Council of the Laborers’ Union,” said Crowe. “I grew up in a family with deep roots in manufacturing and I will always fight to protect working families as your senator. Together, we will stand up for the right to organize and collectively bargain, local job creation, and growing the Illinois economy.”
The Southwestern Illinois Laborers’ District Council represents thousands of union workers in the construction industry and public sector across Southwest Illinois.
“The Southwestern Illinois Laborers’ District Council is proud to support Rachelle,” said District Council Business Manager Glyn Ramage. “Rachelle will fight to protect collective bargaining rights, ensure safe working conditions for all workers, and invest in infrastructure and local workers to grow the Illinois economy.”
Crowe serves as a Madison County Assistant State’s Attorney and has successfully represented victims in hundreds of violent crime prosecutions. Crowe and her husband are raising their two young children in Glen Carbon and are members of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Edwardsville.
The 56th Illinois Senate District compromises all or parts of Alton, Bethalto, Caseyville, Collinsville, East Alton, Edwardsville, Elsah, Fairview Heights, Glen Carbon, Godfrey, Granite City, Madison, Maryville, O’Fallon, Pontoon Beach, Roxana, Shiloh, South Roxana, Swansea, and Wood River.
