SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE – Military Retiree Appreciation Day will be held at Scott Air Force Base Event Center on Saturday, Oct. 7. The event features information booths and keynote speaker Navy Rear Admiral Lee Metcalf.
Hundreds of veterans from around the Metro East and surrounding states arrive annually for the free event, scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 07.
This year, events for the day will be held inside Scott AFB Event Center at Scott Air Force Base. The event will begin with remarks from the base commander, Colonel John Howard.
Each year the base sets aside a day for military retirees and their families in the region to enjoy guest speakers, door prizes, and blood pressure screenings. There will be dozens of local vendors including the AARP, Veteran Affairs, American Red Cross, Widows Support Group and others.
The event is for all military retirees and their families in the surrounding communities.
