Illinois Route 143 to be closed a year for bridge project in Bond County

roadworkaheadlogoPIERRON –The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that Illinois Route 143 over Shoal Creek in Bond County will be closed beginning Monday, Oct. 16, weather permitting, for more than a year.

The closure is necessary to replace the existing girder bridge crossing Shoal Creek.

The highway will reopen at the location in December 2018.

A detour route will be posted utilizing U.S. 40 to Interstate 70 (Highland/Pierron Exit 30) to Illinois 27 (Greenville Exit 45).

General contractor on this project is Plocher Construction Co. of Highland.
