PIERRON –The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that Illinois Route 143 over Shoal Creek in Bond County will be closed beginning Monday, Oct. 16, weather permitting, for more than a year.
The closure is necessary to replace the existing girder bridge crossing Shoal Creek.
The highway will reopen at the location in December 2018.
A detour route will be posted utilizing U.S. 40 to Interstate 70 (Highland/Pierron Exit 30) to Illinois 27 (Greenville Exit 45).
General contractor on this project is Plocher Construction Co. of Highland.
