The impact of the state’s new education funding model will be discussed by state Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, during her Education Citizens’ Advisory Committee on Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Glen Carbon Elementary School, 141 Birger Ave. in Glen Carbon.
Senate Bill 1947 was recently signed in to law.
“While not perfect, the plan ensures more funding for every single school in our community by adding over $1.6 million in additional state funding to the school districts I represent,” Stuart said. “In addition, the plan reduces the reliance on local property taxes, paving the way for real property tax relief.”
Stuart will give a brief legislative update on the evidence-based school funding formula and other legislation under consideration in the legislature. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and share ideas for future legislation.
