Local non-profit agency expanding its reach to aid in Hurricane Harvey cleanup

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS – Hoyleton Youth and Family Services, which has helped children and families throughout Illinois for more than 120 years, is expanded its outreach to Texas this week.

hoyletonyouthlogoHoyleton Youth and the Illinois South Conference of the United Church of Christ are teaming up in an effort to gather and ship more than 500 emergency cleanup buckets to South East Texas to assist the area stricken by Hurricane Harvey.

Supplies are gathered through Sept. 20 at all local United Church of Christ Churches and at the Hoyleton Youth and Family Services office located at 8 Executive Drive, Suite 200, Fairview Heights.

On Thursday, Sept. 21, staff from HYFS along with UCC churches from across southwest Illinois will gather at St. John’s Evangelical UCC at 307 W. Clay St., Collinsville, to sort the items, build buckets and prepare them for shipping. The buckets will then be shipped to a sister church in Texas courtesy of Stock Transport of Lebanon.
