Italian Fest returns this week to Main Street of Collinsville

The Italian Fest, a family friendly event celebrating the culture and heritage of the Collinsville community since 1983, returns to Main Street this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15 and 16.

italianfestlogoSignature events like the Grape Stomp, 5K Run and Bocce Ball Tournament are among twos days of events. Some 30 food vendor, continuous entertainment on two stages, a Wine Garden, parade and Children’s Area are included.

Food fare will include toasted ravioli, Italian beef, spumoni, bagna cauda, canolli, and Italian Ices.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day.

The theme for this year’s Saturday parade is “Get Your Toga On”.

Live music will include Dr. Zhivegas on Friday night and Johnny Rock-Itt on the Laura Buick GMC Main Stage Saturday evening.

Collinsville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Wendi Valenti said Italian Fest is Collinsville’s homecoming.

“People attend with the hopes of running into other folks they haven’t seen in a long time. But it’s also nice to hear that Italian Fest is reaching others outside our Collinsville community,” she said.

The Collinsville Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Italian Fest, which is run by volunteers in the community. From local school programs to nonprofit organizations, proceeds from the  vendors are directed back into the community. More than $1 million has been raised over the years by these vendors.
