Amtrak rolls down track to new Alton location starting Sept. 13
Amtrak service will move to the new Regional Multimodal Transportation Center located in Alton starting Wednesday, Sept. 13.
The newly constructed site at 1 Golf Road — on the former Robert P. Wadlow Municipal Golf Course — is approximately two miles northwest of the current station on College Avenue.
Parking at the current station will to be closed, and people are encouraged not to park at the station on or after Sept. 13.
Customers who leave a vehicle at the College Avenue location and return to Alton on or after Sept. 13 will need to make their own travel arrangements to retrieve their vehicle.
Customers can use the Amtrak mobile app to access the Lyft app and request a ride. New users of Lyft will receive $5 off each of their first four Lyft rides by using the promo code AMTRAKLYFT.
Lincoln Service & Texas Eagle Trains: Minor Schedule Change
To accommodate the move to the new station, the following schedule adjustments will become effective Sept. 13.
– Southbound Trains 21/321/421, 301, 303, 305 and 307 will arrive and depart Alton two minutes earlier.
– Northbound Trains 22/322/422, 300, 302, 304 and 306 will arrive and depart Alton two minutes later.
The Alton Regional Multimodal Transportation Center offers ample parking, free Wi-Fi, enclosed bicycle lockers and connections to Madison County Transit. The station also provides a spacious waiting room with an exhibit that details rail history in Alton and the region.
