All lanes of westbound I-270 to be closed in Madison County

The Illinois Department of Transportation said the need for pavement repairs will require a full closure of westbound Interstate 270 from the Interstate 55/70/270 interchange near Troy to Illinois Route 3 in Granite City beginning tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 18, weather permitting.

Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, westbound Interstate 270 will be closed from the Interstate 55/70/270 interchange to Illinois 3.

A posted detour will direct traffic to take westbound Interstate 55/70 to northbound Interstate 255 to westbound New Poag Road to southbound Illinois 3 to access westbound Interstate 270.

Westbound traffic will not be able to travel on Interstate 270, west of the Interstate 55/70/270 interchange.
The closure is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21.

The contractor on the Madison County-based project is Microsurfacing Contractors, LLC, of Bridgeton, Mo.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes during construction weekends and anticipate some longer travel times.
