Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House

p13 Coleman    Since 1909, Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House (LBDNH), a non-profit, faith-based 501(c) (3) community organization has provided services to address the immediate and long term physical and spiritual needs of youth and families within East St. Louis and surrounding communities. Today, LBDNH serves approximately eight townships in two counties in the southern Illinois region. More than 18,000 individuals and families depend on the services of the Neighborhood House each year. The newly appointed president, Coleman stated, “Following a man like Bill Kreeb is a hard task. He is loved by our staff and community. It is also challenging to overcome many of the issues Lessie Bates faces as a result of budgetary problems within the State of Illinois; however, I am a man of faith and thrilled to carry out the Neighborhood House’s vision as set forth by the United Methodist Church, concluded Coleman.” He continued, “As a devout Christian, and having grown up in East St. Louis, the mission to battle extreme poverty in our communities is a God-given passion. I earnestly want to improve the quality of life for residents of all ages.”
