Ameren Illinois

p12 Ameren Richard Mark    “At Ameren Illinois, we know your business relies on us to keep the lights on and the natural gas flowing 24/7, 365 days a year.  It’s why we continue to invest millions of dollars each year to upgrade the energy grid throughout the Metro East area to enhance service reliability and economic development opportunities in your community.
“However, Ameren Illinois and our employees play another vital role in your community that you may not realize.  Every year our employees spend countless hours volunteering at organizations throughout the area. The company makes charitable contributions through
our Ameren Cares program to 501c organizations. Here’s a look at few of the local organizations positively impacted by some of the nearly $3 million in contributions we made in the state of Illinois last year:
Ameren Illinois and employees contributed $174,000 to support United Way agencies in the Metro-East.
In January, we donated $65,000 and $55,000 to St. Clair County Community Action Agency and Madison County Community Development, respectively, to provide p12 Amerenincome-eligible customers with a one-time bill payment grant.
In June, we distributed 135 window air conditioners to income-qualified customers in the Metro East to help them stay cool last summer.  The units were provided in partnership with the Madison County Community Development Agency, Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center, and the Catholic Urban Program.
In July, Ameren Illinois donated $7,000 to the Team Illinois Youth Police Camp for a program to help local teens with internet safety, budgeting, anti-bullying, and other important life skills.
In August, we donated $17,700 to the City of Alton to update the electrical system and lights at historic Riverview Park. At a height of 575 feet above the Mississippi River, the 103-year-old park is the highest naturally occurring overlook in Alton.
“We understand the importance of building strong local communities.  It’s why we supported hundreds of organizations throughout our service territory last year and will continue to do so well into the future.”
