Illinois gubernatorial candidate in Metro East on Sunday
CHICAGO — Ameya Pawar, 47th Ward alderman and Democratic candidate for Illinois governor, will be among the first announced candidates for governor visiting the Metro East region on Sunday, April 9, as part of his plan to visit all 102 Illinois counties to talk his vision for a “New Deal for Illinois.”
Pawar will appear for a meet and greet at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and at an Edwardsville restaurant. Residents are invited to learn about the details of Pawar’s platform and ask questions.
Modeled in the spirit of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s economic and social policies, Pawar’s “New Deal for Illinois” intends to invigorate the state economy and create more opportunities for Illinoisans to get ahead.
Public events will take place:
– From 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Morris University Center at SIUE Mississippi Room; and
– From 3 to 4 p.m. at Bigelo’s Bistro, 140 N. Main St., Edwardsville
