The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced that Wherry Road will be closed between just east of Illinois Route 158 and the Scott Air Force Base Cardinal Creek Gate beginning on Monday, April 3, weather permitting.
The work is necessary to remove and reconstruct a portion of Wherry Road and construct a Wherry Road Connector to the new Rieder Road Interchange on I-64. The work could be completed by mid-May.
Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes and allow for extra time when traveling in the area.
The contractor on this project is The Kilian Corp./Keeley & Sons, a Joint Venture, of Mascoutah. Steve Putz is the supervising field engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation and may be contacted regarding the project at (618) 346-3350.
