HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Foundation raises over $160,000 at Elizabethan Gala to be invested in 3D/4D Echocardiography Unit

BELLEVILLE — Some 260 people gathered at the Regency Conference Center in O’Fallon this month to celebrate the annual Elizabethan Gala Fundraiser, which brought in more than $160,000 to benefit HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

The traditional fall event featured an evening of fellowship and fundraising accompanied by dinner and music. The highlight of the evening featured the “Donation Challenge” emceed by KMOV meteorologist and personality, Matt Chambers.

“We extend our sincere gratitude to our community, physicians, and colleagues that once again came out to make our annual gala a huge success,” stated David Garris, director of HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Foundation. “Thanks to their generosity, St. Elizabeth’s Foundation is able to provide the hospital with technology and resources to enhance patient care.”

This year, proceeds from the gala will go toward the purchase of a 3D/4D Echocardiography unit for St. Elizabeth’s Heart and Vascular program.

“Our partnership with the physicians of Prairie Heart Institute of Illinois is one of the many services that sets St. Elizabeth’s apart as a leader in quality-driven health care,” notes hospital President and CEO Peg Sebastian. “We’ve been nationally recognized by Truven Analytics, the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology and others for our cardiac care and outcomes. The investment and installation of the 3D/4D Echocardiography unit will allow us to continue to bring Prairie’s world-renowned vascular and cardiology physicians and services close to home for our patients. I am grateful to all who donated during the Foundation’s Gala to make this technology available.”

The benefits of three- and four-dimensional technologies are the availability to see live, detailed images to provide unique views of the heart and allow detailed and accurate evaluation of cardiac structure and function.
