HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital rehabilitation unit adds new physician

BELLEVILLE – HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital has added Sri Patchala, MD, to its Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.

patchela sriPatchala (left) serves as a physiatrist, or physical medicine physician, and joins Dr. Latha Ravi and others who serve patients who require rehabilitation due to major injury or illness.

St. Elizabeth’s Comprehensive Rehabilitation Unit was recently re-accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities as a Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program. It is the only accredited unit in St. Clair County. This three-year accreditation is highest level of accreditation that can be awarded and is the ninth consecutive three-year accreditation that St. Elizabeth’s has received.

“St. Elizabeth’s Comprehensive Rehabilitation Unit is one of the few accredited rehab facilities in Southern Illinois and we’ve sustained accreditation for 27 consecutive years,” shared Tom Dibadj, PT, and director of Rehabilitative Services at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. “While CARF accreditation is not mandatory for rehabilitation units to maintain, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital leadership chooses to achieve these rigorous, high-quality rehabilitation standards in order to provide the best care possible for our patients and we are privileged to have Dr. Patchala join our advanced team.”

Patchala earned his medical degree from Siddartha Medical College in Vijayawada, AP, India. He completed a residency at Washington University in St. Louis/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He is a member of American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and American Medical Association.
