Steel beams being placed on bridge over I-64 near Scott AFB
The Illinois Department of Transportation says nighttime lane restrictions are being encountered, starting today, Monday, on both eastbound and westbound Interstate 64 to allow steel beams to be installed for a structure carrying Rieder Road over I-64.
The site is between Illinois Routes 158 and 4. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction and stopped periodically from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The work is expected to last through the end of September.
The work is part of the new interchange serving the area near Scott Air Force Base.
Motorists are urged to use caution, obey all warning signs and allow extra time when traveling through the work zone.
The contractor on this project is The Kilian Corp./Keeley and Sons, Joint Venture of Mascoutah.
