Half-million adventures await at 38th Annual YMCA Book Fair
ST. LOUIS – The Gateway Region YMCA, which has 24 traditional Y branches in Missouri and Illinois, is gearing up for its 38th Annual Book Fair Aug. 19-23 at the Greensfelder Recreation Complex in Queeny Park.
This year’s fair features more than half a million books, CDs, magazines and records. Proceeds benefit the Y’s youth and literacy programs that provide reading tutoring and free books to hundreds of adults and children each year.
In addition, there will be a rare books collection, including a 1922 edition of the Writings of Mark Twain in 25 volumes, a 1911 edition of the Works of Charles Dickens in 36 volumes, and an array of sheet music ranging from the late 19th century until the 1960s. • 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19 – Tuesday, Aug. 23
• Daily Specials:
o Friday, Aug. 19 – “Preview Day”. $10 admission fee this day only. (Aug. 20 -23, admission is free.)
o Monday, Aug. 22 – Half-price book day.
o Tuesday, Aug. 23 – $10 Box day. $10 per box for all books in box.
The Book Fair will feature items priced from 50 cents to $6.
