Mary Dix, Bonnie Coleman, First National Bank, Staunton
Mary Dix and Bonnie Coleman make for a strong lending team at First National Bank in Staunton. Dix focuses on commercial loans; Coleman on residential.
Dix has a 41-year history in banking, starting as a teller with a small community bank in Belleville in 1975. She moved up the ranks as mergers changed the bank she worked for and those banks got bigger and bigger. She joined the team at FNB two years ago and said it feels like coming home, returning to her roots in community banking.
“I like the community bank culture,” said Dix who manages the Troy branch, “and the easy access to management, which allows me to deliver prompt service to my customers.”
Like Dix, Coleman broke into banking as a teller, albeit nearly 20 years later. She worked her way up to branch manager and then took a job as mortgage originator with one of the largest mortgage banks in the country. That changed early this year when she responded to a call from FNB to come to work for them at the Bethalto branch.
“Working with a community bank is such a great feeling,” Coleman said. “You’re able to give your customers more personal service.”
