Drink it in: SWIC program offers history of Belleville saloons

 

Belleville residents have the opportunity to salute their saloon history.

Southwestern Illinois College Programs and Services for Older Persons and the Belleville Historical Society are hosting the Summer 2016 Lifelong Learning Belleville Speaker Series, which focuses on Belleville’s rich history.

The “History of Early Belleville Saloons” will be held on Tuesday, July 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at PSOP, 201 N. Church St., Belleville.

Belleville Historical Society President Larry Betz and Belleville Historical Society Historian Bob Brunkow will give a historic overview of the many neighborhood saloons founded in Belleville.
