Sandra Young, Vice President and Trust Officer, TheBANK of Edwardsville, Edwardsville
By MELISSA CROCKETT MESKE
While Sandra Young might be a “newbie” with TheBANK of Edwardsville, she is no newcomer to the banking and finance industry. She has been in her new position as vice president and trust officer at TheBANK for just a little over three months now, but has worked in the field for more than 30 years.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Young knew she wanted to build a career for herself in banking and finance. Her first job after college was as an administrative assistant in the trust department of the locally owned community bank.
Young obtained her certification as a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor through the Cannon Trust School and has maintained that designation since 2003.
Her new position at TheBANK of Edwardsville is just the third company she has worked for in her 30-year career. She stayed with her two previous employers within the industry for 15 years each. Young is excited about getting back working again within trust administration as it allows her to return to her roots of working directly with her clients.
Young’s role at TheBANK of Edwardsville is part of their wealth management group. She comes to the table as an ally as she works with customers and attorneys. Many of the customers and attorneys she works with from day to day are from the Metro East area, but her work is not limited to there. She is eager to assist any customer with developing a sound plan for meeting their estate and wealth management needs.
“Even though technology is the name of the game these days in the world of banking, at the end of the day it’s the quality of customer service that is truly the gauge to success,” said Young. “An estate plan is not something you put together once and place on the shelf for the rest of your days; rather it is a living document that must be managed on a regular basis in order to meet your needs. Life changes and your plan should change with it.”
Born and raised in Mount Olive, Young still resides there with her husband. They have four children.
