Public forum on NGA Friday in O’Fallon

O’FALLON, Ill. — Rep. Mike Bost will be holding a free, public forum this Friday, May 27, for residents to raise questions and concerns regarding placement of the new National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s western headquarters.

Also set to attend the forum at the Katy Cavins Community Center in O’Fallon will be Rep. Rodney Davis, St. Clair County Board Chairman Mark Kern, Madison County Board Chairman Alan Dunstan, and other community leaders.

“Nearly every objective metric proves that St. Clair County is the superior choice for the new NGA facility,” said Bost. “So it begs the question, ‘How did NGA come to the conclusion that it belongs in North St. Louis instead?’ Unfortunately, I’ve never received an adequate answer to that question. Therefore, I’ve decided to host a public forum that will give my constituents a chance to have their voices heard, because NGA clearly ignored their concerns during the public comment period.”

The Katy Cavins Community Center is at 308 E. Fifth Street. The forum begins at 10 a.m.

The NGA announced in April that it would prefer to move its western headquarters from its current location south of downtown St. Louis to a new site on St. Louis’ north side instead of a location near Scott Air Force Base.

The NGA is expected to make a final decision on the new location of its western headquarters on June 3.
