EDWARDSVILLE – Edwardsville Township and the Ed/Glen Ministerial Alliance are inviting agencies to attend the third Lunch and Learn Workshop on Thursday, May 19, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Edison’s Entertainment Complex, 2477 State Route 157.
The event, a follow-up from the Social Services Safety Net Forum held in June 2015, will focus on providing information on area transportation services and resources.
The events bring together area social service agencies, organizations, and churches that provide services to residents of Edwardsville Community School District 7. Edwardsville Township offers two assistance programs to residents, General Assistance and Emergency Assistance. These program assist low-income residents with shelter, utilities, food and personal items.
“The success from the Social Service Safety Net workshops is outstanding,” said Township Supervisor Frank Miles. “We have touched on assisting the homeless, senior services, and domestic violence which are all key issues that face the members of our community. Now we want to try and inform local agencies of the transportation resources in Madison County.”
Speakers will include representatives from Madison County Transit, Faith in Action, and the Main Street Community Center.
