PSOP plans annual Senior Celebration

BELLEVILLE — Southwestern Illinois College’s Programs and Services for Older Persons will host its annual Senior Celebration.

This year’s theme is “How Ya Going to Keep ‘’em Down on the Farm after They’ve Seen PSOP?”

The event will be held Friday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at PSOP, 201 N. Church St., in Belleville. The event is co-sponsored by the city of Belleville, Belleville Township and PSOP.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for $5. The RSVP Country Western Band will perform and there will be a car show, a photo booth, game raffles and prizes.

The Community Service Agencies with the Belleville Chamber of Commerce is partnering with PSOP by hosting a funnel cake van. Donate four nonperishable food items or $5 to get a funnel cake. All proceeds from funnel cake sales will directly benefit the Interfaith Food Pantry.

This event is open to the public and many activities are free. No reservations are needed. Additional free parking is available at B Street and Jackson Street. Shuttles will be available.
