SHILOH — Memorial Hospital East officially opened to the public as of 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12. The hospital is located at 1404 Cross St. in Shiloh.
“We have been preparing for the opening of Memorial Hospital East since 2011, when we filed a Certificate of Need with the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board,” said Ruth Holmes, administrator of Memorial Hospital East. Memorial Hospital East was unanimously approved by the IHFSRB, making it the second new hospital to receive project approval in the state of Illinois in more than 20 years.
The 94-bed, all private suite, 207,212 square foot, full-service hospital completed construction in December 2015. Since that time, a Transition Occupancy Plan, put in place in early 2015, has provided appropriate training for staff and proper procurement of equipment and supplies.
Memorial Hospital East offers the community a full-service hospital with the latest in amenities. Built in a natural setting in Shiloh, the hospital features 94 private patient rooms: 72 medical/surgical rooms, six intensive care unit beds and 16 LDRP (labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum) rooms. The Emergency Department features six treatment and six observation rooms, all with easy access to critical care treatment areas such as the Cardiac Catheterization Lab and Radiology. Memorial Hospital East has four surgical suites and two C-section rooms.
