SHILOH – The Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois has received a $2,200 Placemaking microgrant from the National Association of Realtors to help build a playground at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Youth Center in East St. Louis.
The mission of the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation, which manages the Youth Center, is to instill youth in the Greater East St. Louis area with the dream, drive and determination necessary to succeed in academics, athletics, and leadership.
“Realtors live, work and volunteer in their communities and take immense pride in working to improve them,” said Doug Payne, president of the Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois.
Placemaking grants are awarded to local and state Realtor associations to help them and their members initiate community improvement projects.
RASI primarily serves the Illinois Metro-East market area, including St. Clair, Monroe, Randolph and Clinton Counties, except for the easternmost townships of Irishtown, Clement, Lake, East Fork, Meridian and Brookside.
