SIUE School of Engineering holds 10th Annual Awards Banquet
The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Engineering celebrated exceptional students, faculty and alumni at its 10th Annual Awards Banquet held Feb. 25. The school recognized an outstanding junior, senior, graduate student, teacher and alumnus from each of its six degree programs.
“Over the 10 years that we have held this banquet, the School of Engineering has advanced substantially, thanks to the outstanding contributions and accomplishments of our engineering community,” noted Chris Gordon, PhD, associate dean in the School of Engineering. “As we celebrate the successes of our students, faculty and staff, and alumni we also realize the significant potential our engineering community has for future achievement.”
Among those receiving recognition were Ryan Fries, PhD, associate professor of civil engineering and graduate program director and Sinan Onal, PhD, assistant professor of industrial engineering. Fries was honored as outstanding researcher, and Onal was recognized for outstanding service.
School of Engineering alumnus Jonathan Fowler was the featured speaker. Fowler earned a bachelor’s in electrical engineering in 2010. He is the chief operating office at Fowler Management Services serving J.F. Electric and Donco Electrical Construction.
