International Trade Center at SIUE plans breakfast session on tax breaks for exporters

EDWARDSVILLE — The Illinois SBDC International Trade Center at SIUE will present another in its Trade Breakfast Series: “IC-DISC: The Big Tax Break for U.S. Based Exporting Businesses. Learn How to Use it to Achieve Significant Tax Savings.”

The event is Tuesday, March 22, from 9 to 11 a.m., with 8:30 a.m. registration and networking breakfast at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Morris Center-International room (second level)

Fee is $35 and registration is required

Presenter is Omar D. Malik, an attorney at Goldenberg, Heller & Antognoli, P.C. in Edwardsville. Malik has an extensive background in cross-border and domestic tax advisory and compliance issues. He has advised public companies and privately held family owned businesses on tax issues involving various entity types including partnerships, corporations, S-Corporations and Limited Liability Companies.

The seminar will highlight a federal tax savings incentive known as IC-DISC that is available to businesses exporting products outside the United States. The benefits and requirements of the IC-DISC will be presented along with examples.

Topics that will be covered include:

• What is an IC-DISC?
• How do the Federal IC-DISC rules benefit owners of exporting businesses?
• What are the requirements to qualify as an IC-DISC?
• Examples of IC-DISC structures and potential tax savings
