Renovations complete at two SIHF facilities

    FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS — Construction-management firm, IMPACT Strategies has completed two major renovation projects for Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation, a $2.4 million expansion and renovation at Centreville (Ill.) Health Center, the other a $600,000 renovation of the Charleston (Ill.) Health Center.
    The multi-phased project at Centreville involved renovating approximately 24,000 square feet of SIHF’s facility at 6000 Bond Avenue. The project consisted of six phases of renovations to five departments, including pediatrics, pediatric behavioral health, adult medicine, obstetrics and dental, and the addition of an outpatient pharmacy. The facility remained operational while the project was ongoing.
    Work on the Charleston center involved renovating an existing retail space into a well-finished medical center.  The facility will serve both medical and dental needs.
    Bates & Associates Architects was the design firm on both projects.

Water company honored for Drug Take-Back Program

    BELLEVILLE – Illinois American Water and Missouri American Water have been honored as finalists for the St. Louis Regional Chamber’s Ameren Corporate Citizenship Arcus Award for demonstrating exceptional commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the St. Louis region.
    The pair were honored for establishing pharmaceutical drop boxes at police stations, city halls and health departments. The program’s goal is to give residents a safe and responsible way to dispose of unneeded medicines without flushing – keeping the drugs out of local rivers and off the streets.
    The companies established more than 50 drop-off sites that dispose of several tons of medicines each year through incineration.

Kaskaskia Engineering acquires Champaign firm

    Kaskaskia Engineering Group, LLC has acquired Central Illinois Tile Co., a Champaign, Ill., construction firm.
    With the acquisition of CIT, KEG Build will expand its work capabilities into underdrains and related services.
    KEG Build currently provides contracting services that include cold milling, preformed pavement markings, patching, grading and drainage work.
    The CIT acquisition includes their existing facility, equipment, several of their employees, as well as existing contracts. The acquisition does not include the CIT name.
