“We had a successful year as a result of expansion in a number of targeted business and geographic sectors. The company was able to identify and gain strong footholds in several markets, which are currently gaining momentum,” says Todd Imming, director of marketing at The Korte Company.
The company was awarded many contracts over the past year, both local and national. Locally, construction is underway on a six-story, 284-room Visitor’s Quarters at Scott Air Force Base. When completed in the fall of 2017, the $44 million, 170,000-square-foot facility is designed to be USGBC LEED certified Silver.
In the local health-care market, the Korte team worked with the Carlinville Area Hospital to create a 28,730-square-foot, free-standing medical office building that houses primary and specialty care clinics along with outpatient rehab services. Korte is also working on an expansion and renovation of Highland Home, an independent retirement community that has remained a client of the company since 1961.
The company secured numerous military contracts in 2015. Construction has begun on the Navy Gateway Inn & Suites, a new $46.3 million, seven-story, 200 guest-room hotel at Naval Station Newport, R.I.
The Korte Company is also working on multiple design-build projects at the Naval Air Base in Whidbey Island, Wash. Projects include a 43,700-square-foot hangar modernization; the P-8A Multi-Missioned Aircraft Training Facility designed to house 19 flight simulators; and two hangar facility extensions.
A $14 million U.S. Army mega-facility, known as the “Epicenter,” is under construction at the Naval Station Great Lakes. This project will convert the current enlisted club, Pier 525, to an entertainment complex that offers movies, amusements, billiards and an expansion of the current food and beverage operation.
The company will design and construct a $10.1 million F-35 Maintenance Hangar, located at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Ariz., as well as a 500-member Army Reserve Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.
The Korte Company’s philosophy remains grounded in delivering projects on time and on budget. According to Imming, it has proven a valuable asset again and again. More than 80 percent of the company’s clients call on them for future projects.
