Doctor joins practice at Alton Memorial

    ALTON – Dr. Trent McDaniel, MD, started in January with Family Physicians of Alton and the BJC Medical Group of Illinois.
    McDaniel earned his undergraduate degree in physiology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and his medical degree from the University of Illinois. He completed residency in family medicine at Mercy Health System in Janesville, Wis. He worked in Pinckneyville, Ill., before spending the last nine years with Midwest Emergency Department Services in O’Fallon, Ill.
Family Physicians of Alton is located in Suite 230 of Medical Office Building B on the Alton Memorial Hospital campus.

Metal Theft Task Force legislation takes effect

    SPRINGFIELD – A measure sponsored by state Sen. Bill Haine, D-Alton, that creates the Recyclable Metal Theft Task Force took effect Jan. 1.
    Similar task forces have meet success in other state. In Tucson, AZ, property loss was reported at $2.9 million in 2012. Just two years later, property loss was decreased by 90 percent to $310,000.
    The high cost of copper has led to a growing number of instances of people stealing wiring and piping from utility property, electrical infrastructure and vacant homes.

Ameren Illinois upgrades gas system in Madison

    Ameren Illinois has completed upgrades to the natural gas infrastructure in Madison.
    The projects are intended to improve safety and service reliability for customers in Madison, East St. Louis and surrounding areas, while also increasing capacity to support future growth.
    Among projects was the replacement of a high pressure distribution pipe that runs adjacent to Gateway Motorsports Park. Ameren Illinois completed replacement of approximately 2,400 feet of 10-inch bare steel distribution main south of the facility in early December.

IMPACT Strategies building Ameren facility

    FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS — Fairview Heights-based IMPACT Strategies says construction has begun on a new $5.3 million facility in Decatur for Ameren Illinois.
    The approximately 12,000-square-foot facility at 2425 N. Woodford St. will house Ameren’ gas control center, which provides real-time monitoring of the natural gas delivery system.
    Upon completion in May, approximately 20 full-time Ameren Illinois staff members will be located at the facility.
