Work to begin on replacing Illinois 157 bridge

The Illinois Department of Transportation says the bridge carrying Illinois Route 157 over Illinois 161/St. Clair Avenue in St. Clair County will be closed beginning today, Monday, Jan. 4.

A marked detour and message boards utilizing routes Illinois 15 and Interstate 64 will be in place to route traffic around the closure. The removal and replacement of this bridge should be complete by the fall of 2016, weather permitting.

The contractor on the project is Millstone-Weber from St. Charles, Mo.
