“That’s my approach in working with my clients. Helping them make informed decisions and seeing their satisfaction at the end of the day is what motivates me,” she said, regarding the most rewarding aspects of her role as an attorney.
Schrick is a litigation attorney with Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd. of Belleville. She represents clients in a variety of civil matters including business disputes and dissolutions, contract actions and employment matters along with trust and estate issues.
Graduating from Saint Louis University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a certificate in business, Schrick completed her juris doctorate at Washington University. As a student, she served on the mock trial teams at both SLU and WU, participated in moot court, and served as an executive editor of the WU Global Studies Law Review.
Designated among the 2013-2015 “Rising Stars in Illinois Business Litigation” of Super Lawyers, a list compiled by Thomson Reuters recognizing the top 2.5 percent of lawyers under 40, Schrick also received an “AV Peer Review Rated” designation by Martindale-Hubbell, a peer-to-peer recognition of an attorney’s ethical practices and performance capabilities.
One of the newest initiatives at her firm in which Schrick is excited to be involved is their networking group for professional women throughout Southern Illinois. The purpose of the group is to bring together women who have interests or interactions within the legal field. They host monthly get-togethers encompassing both social and professional development opportunities. The firm’s charitable foundation also strongly supports the arts, education, and other community initiatives.
Outside the firm, Schrick is an adjunct professor at Southwestern Illinois College, teaching legal research and writing. She is also a board member for Family Hospice and coaches a fourth grade “Girls on the Run” team. A graduate of the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Belleville program, Schrick serves on the St. Clair County arbitration panel, the St. Clair County E-Discovery Committee and as a co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Young Advocates Programming Committee.
She and her husband Greg have a 2-year-old son and another on the way. Her personal time is mostly spent with them. Schrick is also a successful triathlete, qualifying for the Boston and New York marathons and the USAT Long Course Triathlon National Championship.
